Lucas Art Workshop

Lucas Art Workshop has expanded, providing the square footage necessary to accommodate more student studio space at Covenant College as well as offices space for faculty. As the number of students majoring in art has increased in the past decade, it had become clear that 3,200 square feet of space in the existing Art Barn was inadequate. The new facility is over 7,500 square feet. P&C Construction demolished the Art Barn and carefully salvaged the exterior windows. A single story, masonry/steel building was built in its place. The exterior has a variety of finishes including; corten steel panels, cedar siding, and fiber cement siding. These were used to create a stunning visual appearance. The salvaged windows were used in the interior rooms to maintain a link between the past and future of Covenant's Art Program. The building features an abundance of natural light, studio ventilation, studio space for 2D and 3D art, and commons area. The open commons area is used as space for students to display their creative work with pride. An outside atrium was built to offer inspiration with the natural beauty of Lookout Mountain. The Lucas Art Workshop is truly a unique project for Covenant College and P&C Construction. It stands apart from other buildings on the campus. The aesthetically pleasing facility, paired with a state of the art studio, is able to harness potential and mold young talent. With its modern look and open floorplan, the Arts Program has a facility to rival larger universities.
