P&C Construction Leads $30M Workforce Skills Training Center Project

"There is a growing need to provide workforce training in the fields of welding, machine tool technology, heating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration and industrial systems technology in the northeast region of Alabama," said Greg Randall, executive project director of workforce enhancement at Snead State. "To help support the increased demand for skilled professionals in the area, we secured funding to build a modern facility that will house the training programs. These programs will not only serve Marshall County but also the surrounding counties."

When I saw that the new Little Debbie Park had been dedicated Friday by the Collegedale Commons, I pictured it being mostly a playground for kids.”


Eighth graders learn valuable construction skills in Chattanooga camp

“Associated General Contractors of East Tennessee hosted a camp to get 15 eighth graders interested in construction and demolition. They learned about the basics of structure, electrical, carpentry, plumbing and finishings.”

“A former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga student has come full circle, as he now oversees renovations and updates to the on-campus housing where he once lived. Slade McGuire, a 2019 UTC construction management graduate, is currently the site superintendent of the Walker Apartments renovations. He is overseeing work that even includes the student apartment McGuire lived in as a UTC freshman. McGuire was an engineering major as a first-year student, but he took a break before returning to major in construction management.”

Located at the corner of East Eighth and University streets in front of the Decosimo Apartments, The Aviary is a student space conceptualized and designed by students in the UTC Interior Architecture and Design program. The story behind the creation of a student-centric space to serve the social and academic needs of students residing in Decosimo, Guerry, Stophel, Walker and UC Foundation Apartments began more than 18 months ago.”

Inskip Recreation Center ADA Improvements

New Ooltewah shopping center to hold three restaurants

“ Three restaurants are headed for Ooltewah as the second phase of a shopping center has begun going up as part of a $10 million project. Dos Bros Mexican Grill, Jersey Mike's Subs and Smoothie King plan to open new eateries in a 10,000-square-foot addition to White Oak Crossing off Lee Highway, said developer Jeff Londis. Noire, a high-end nail salon, and a finance company also are slated for the site, he said. Londis said the development's second phase will hold primarily restaurant and retail space, though there's some office space as well.”

Heil Launches $6.4 Million Expansion Project

“Heil Environmental recently announced it will enhance the manufacturing capabilities as its Fort Payne, Alabama facility with a $6.4 million plant expansion project. According to the company, the project, which began June 18, includes process and equipment improvements that will result in an estimated 95 percent improvement in cycle time.”

 

New Community Park Opens up on Chattanooga’s Southside

“The park is on the site of the former Charles A. Bell Elementary School, at 3501 Central Avenue (the school closed in 1989). The building was demolished in 2011 after being declared an eyesore, and the city of Chattanooga took over the site. The city says Alton Park neighborhood leaders along with former District 7 Councilman Chris Anderson and the City’s Department of Economic & Community Development held a community engagement process to create a. new green space that would enhance the vibrancy of the neighborhood and connect residents with options for recreation and gathering.”
